Verse 105 of Psalm 119 reminds us that the world we live in tends to be a dark one that requires the Word of God to navigate. Just as you keep a night light to light pathways in your home at night, the Word of God is the believer’s night light to navigate the paths of life, every day, evening, and night.
Verse 106 reminds us that we are to uphold God’s righteous judgements by following his commands. Regardless of our situation in life. When we swear to uphold his righteous judgments in all areas of our lives, he will always keep our paths lighted so that we don’t stumble in darkness.
Verse 107 teaches us that, in this life the believer suffers afflictions. But, through his living Word God has promised to revive the Spirit of the believer should we come to him when afflictions arise.
As stated in verse 108, as always when God relieves us of our afflictions, we are to praise him through freewill offerings of thy mouth. We are to forever be thankful for the grace and mercy of our heavenly Father.
Through verse 109 we are reminded of the freewill God has given us. We truly take our lives into our own hands everyday with our every decision, thought, and action. However, we are to do so with God’s law at the forefront.
As we know from verse 110, the wicked are bound to lay traps and snares in the paths of God’s children. We are to remain in God’s command to live righteous, holy lives, and to lean on God. Which is the only way to ensure the weapons of the wicked will not prosper when formed against us.
Application
Before you embark on your daily journey, remember to keep your path well-lit with God’s light. Remember his judgements and ask Jesus for the peace that only he can give. Walk with the Holy Spirit and let him be your compass. In doing so you will always be surrounded by the Trinity. Use discernment in order to avoid making decisions that may impact you negatively, as well as to recognize the traps and snares set in place to draw you from God’s path. Lastly, always give thanks to God for lighting your path.
Prayer
Father God in heaven, I pray that as I go on my journey today that you will keep my path well-lit with your glorious light. Through any darkness that may come I ask that your light guides me to follow your commands for me and to keep me from stumbling. I pray that your living Word leads me to praise you through any afflictions and strength may be found through peace in troubled waters. In Christ Jesus name I pray. Father God in heaven, I thank you and I love you. Lord Jesus Christ, I thank you and I love you. Holy Spirit, I thank you and I love you. Amen.
